Every Dollar Makes A Difference

One of our ongoing challenges at BMCYF is finding steady sources of funding to support the work we do. Most foundations want to fund specific projects that impact a large number of people.  We do not separate our work into specific projects, but instead provide a continuum of services and opportunities to support the economic, physical and emotional health of our community. Our holistic approach to promoting the health of community members, makes core operational funding essential to BMCYF.  The best contributors, are those who have a personal understanding of our goals.

A few months ago, Natalie, a seven year old girl came into our center and dropped two crumpled dollars bills and a handful our change on our desk.  ”I want to give this money to the youth center,” she said, “because I like it here and I know you guys need money.”  This two dollars and fifty cents was the smallest and most meaningful donation we have ever received.  She reminds us that every dollar and ever person can make a difference.
