Mask Making
For the past year or so, BMCYF has worked in collaboration with local artist, Sharon Strong to bring a series of wonderful maskmaking workshops to our community. Sharon is a gifted artist as well as a psychologist, and she brings depth, magic, warmth and humor to these mask making workshops, skillfully drawing from the creative being in all of us. There have been workshops for kids of course, some for families but also mask making for women, and the Masks of the Ancestors workshop, open to the entire community and that ended with a moving and beautiful showing of all the masks created during the workshop at the Art Gallery of Murphys. Making art together is a powerful and lasting way to build community, to get people to meet and know each other, to break down barriers and erase fearful misunderstandings. We at BMCYF are committed to this approach to community building. All of our workshops are free. Check out the pictures taken along the way, they tell the story, and watch for the date of our next workshop, you might want to participate! We also welcome volunteers.
